Hootie & the Blowfish

North America, mark August 9, 2005 on your calendars, as Hootie & the Blowfish return with their fifth original studio album, Looking For Lucky. With Don Gehman back at the wheel, Lucky promises to be a return to rock roots for the band.

The first single, One Love, has been shipped to radio and has the potential to be that "one hit to make it to the top" that guitarist Mark Bryan often refers to.

A lot has happened in Camp Hootie since the rant that was posted on this website a while ago. As the arguments in the aforementioned rant have been addressed since, it's only fair that I live up to my end of the bargain.

Hootie & the Blowfish: Yet Another Worship Temple is currently being redesigned and will be made available before I retire, I promise. The first order of business is to relocate the site to a real webhost that doesn't embed ads in every other pixel of space. The second order of business is to actually finish the site.

While you wait, treat yourself to the band's latest offerings, Hootie & the Blowfish and The Best of Hootie & the Blowfish (1993 thru 2003).

Hootie & the Blowfish

As Rucker tells it, the band's name came about because of his habit of giving pals nicknames. "One guy had big eyes and wore glasses and looked kind of owlish so I started calling him Hootie and it caught on. His friend has these huge cheeks, so I started calling him the Blowfish. They walked into a party together one night and I was hammered and said, 'Hey look, there's Hootie and the Blowfish!' And we named the band that because we're not very bright."
